VI. The Difference Between the Work of God and Man

1. The work of God incarnate begins a new era, and those who continue His work are the men who are used by Him. The work done by man is all within the ministry of God in the flesh, and is incapable of going beyond this scope. If God incarnate does not come to do His work, man is not able to bring the old age to an end, and is not able to usher in a new era. The work done by man is merely within the range of his duty that is humanly possible, and does not represent the work of God. Only the incarnate God can come and complete the work that He should do, and apart from Him, no one can do this work on His behalf. Of course, what I speak of is in regard with the work of incarnation.

III. On the Truth of the Incarnation

15. The conceptions of man are laid bare when the incarnate God officially does His work, because the normality and reality of the incarnate God is the antithesis of the vague and supernatural God in man’s imagination. The original conceptions of man can only be revealed through their contrast to the incarnate God. Without the comparison to the incarnate God, the conceptions of man could not be revealed; in other words, without the contrast of reality the vague things could not be revealed. No one is capable of using words to do this work, and no one is capable of articulating this work using words. Only God Himself can do His own work, and no one else can do this work on His behalf. No matter how rich the language of man is, he is incapable of articulating the reality and normality of God. Man can only know God more practically, and can only see Him more clearly, if God personally works among man and completely shows forth His image and His being. This effect cannot be achieved by any fleshly man. Of course, God’s Spirit is also incapable of achieving this effect. God can save corrupt man from the influence of Satan, but this work cannot be directly accomplished by the Spirit of God; rather, it can only be done by the flesh God’s Spirit wears, by God’s incarnate flesh. This flesh is man and also God, is a man possessed of normal humanity and also God possessed of full divinity. And so, even though this flesh is not the Spirit of God, and differs greatly from the Spirit, it is still the incarnate God Himself who saves man, who is the Spirit and also the flesh. No matter what He is called by, ultimately it is still God Himself who saves mankind. For the Spirit of God is indivisible from the flesh, and the work of the flesh is also the work of the Spirit of God; it is just that this work is not done using the identity of the Spirit, but is done using the identity of the flesh. Work that needs to be done directly by the Spirit does not require incarnation, and work that requires the flesh to do cannot be done directly by the Spirit, and can only be done by God incarnate. This is what is required for this work, and is what is required by corrupt mankind.

 III. On the Truth of the Incarnation

4. The best thing about His work in the flesh is that He can leave accurate words and exhortations, and His accurate will for mankind to those who follow Him, so that afterward His followers can more accurately and more concretely pass on all of His work in the flesh and His will for the whole of mankind to those who accept this way. Only the work of God in the flesh among man truly accomplishes the fact of God’s being and living together with man. Only this work fulfills man’s desire to behold the face of God, witness the work of God, and hear the personal word of God. The incarnate God brings to an end the age when only the back of Jehovah appeared to mankind, and also concludes the age of mankind’s belief in the vague God. In particular, the work of the last incarnate God brings all mankind into an age that is more realistic, more practical, and more pleasant. He not only concludes the age of law and doctrine; more importantly, He reveals to mankind a God who is real and normal, who is righteous and holy, who unlocks the work of the management plan and demonstrates the mysteries and destination of mankind, who created mankind and brings to an end the management work, and who has remained hidden for thousands of years. He brings the age of vagueness to a complete end, He concludes the age in which the whole of mankind wished to seek God’s face but was unable to, He ends the age in which the whole of mankind served Satan, and leads the whole of mankind all the way into a completely new era. All this is the outcome of the work of God in the flesh instead of God’s Spirit. When God works in His flesh, those who follow Him no longer seek and grope after those vague and ambiguous things, and cease to guess at the will of the vague God. When God spreads His work in the flesh, those who follow Him shall pass on the work that He has done in the flesh to all religions and denominations, and they shall communicate all of His words to the ears of the whole of mankind. All that is heard by those who receive His gospel shall be the facts of His work, shall be things personally seen and heard by man, and shall be facts and not hearsay. These facts are the evidence with which He spreads the work, and are also the tools that He uses in spreading the work. Without the existence of facts, His gospel would not spread across all countries and to all places; without facts but only with man’s imaginations, He would never be able to do the work of conquering the entire universe. The Spirit is impalpable to man, and invisible to man, and the work of the Spirit is incapable of leaving any further evidence or facts of God’s work for man. Man shall never behold the real face of God, and shall always believe in a vague God that does not exist. Man shall never behold the face of God, nor will man ever hear words personally spoken by God. Man’s imaginings are, after all, empty, and cannot replace the true face of God; the inherent disposition of God, and the work of God Himself cannot be impersonated by man. The invisible God in heaven and His work can only be brought to earth by God incarnate who personally does His work among man. This is the most ideal way in which God appears to man, in which man sees God and comes to know the true face of God, and it cannot be achieved by a non-incarnate God. God having carried out His work to this stage, His work has already achieved the optimal effect, and has been a complete success. The personal work of God in the flesh has already completed ninety percent of the work of God’s entire management. This flesh has provided a better beginning to all of His work, and a summary for all of His work, and has promulgated all of His work, and made the last thorough replenishment to all of this work. Henceforth, there will not be another incarnate God to do the fourth stage of God’s work, and there will be no more wondrous work of the third incarnation of God.

II. On the Truth of God’s Name

14. I was once known as Jehovah. I was also called the Messiah, and people once called Me Jesus the Savior because they loved and respected Me. But today I am not the Jehovah or Jesus that people knew in times past—I am the God who has returned in the last days, the God who shall bring the age to an end. I am the God Himself that rises up at the ends of the earth, replete with My entire disposition, and full of authority, honor and glory. People have never engaged with Me, have never known Me, and have always been ignorant of My disposition. From the creation of the world until today, not one person has seen Me. This is the God who appears to man during the last days but is hidden among man. He resides among man, true and real, like the burning sun and the flaming fire, filled with power and brimming with authority. There is not a single person or thing that shall not be judged by My words, and not a single person or thing that shall not be purified through the burning of fire. Eventually, all nations shall be blessed because of My words, and also smashed to pieces because of My words. In this way, all people during the last days shall see that I am the Savior returned, I am the Almighty God that conquers all of mankind, and I was once the sin offering for man, but in the last days I also become the flames of the sun that burn all things, as well as the Sun of righteousness that reveals all things. Such is My work of the last days. I took this name and am possessed of this disposition so that all people may see that I am a righteous God, and am the burning sun, and the flaming fire. It is so that all may worship Me, the only true God, and so that they may see My true face: I am not only the God of the Israelites, and am not just the Redeemer—I am the God of all creatures throughout heavens and earth and seas.

11. The Bible is a historical record of God’s work in Israel, and documents many of the foretellings of ancient prophets as well as some of the utterances of Jehovah in His work at that time. Thus, people all look upon this book as holy (for God is holy and great). Of course, this is all a result of their reverence for Jehovah and their adoration for God. People refer to this book in this way only because the creatures of God are so adoring of their Creator, and there are even those who call this book a heavenly book. In fact, it is merely a human record. It was not personally named by Jehovah, nor did Jehovah personally guide its creation. In other words, the author of this book is not God, but men. The Holy Bible is only the respectful title given to it by man. This title was not decided by Jehovah and Jesus after they had a discussion amongst each other; it is nothing more than a human idea. For this book was not written by Jehovah, much less by Jesus. Instead, it is the accounts of many ancient prophets, apostles, and seers, which were compiled by later generations into a book of ancient writings that, to people, seems especially holy, a book that they believe contains many unfathomable and profound mysteries that are waiting to be unlocked by future generations.

I remember the Italian poet Dante once said, “The human race finds itself in a better situation when it has the highest level of freedom.” It can be seen from this that people all desire freedom, and treat it as the highest pursuit in life. Appreciating God’s Love From the Miraculous Efficacy of Houttuynia Cordata

In my childhood, whenever I got a feverish cold, my mother would pull up a handful of houttuynia cordata on the ridges between the fields and decoct it for me. Not long after I drank the decoction despite its pungent smell, I would feel much better. At that time, I knew nothing about houttuynia cordata except that it could be used to alleviate fever and that the fishy taste it left in my mouth would linger there for a long time. In the evening I could still taste the decoction of it which I drank in the morning. For this reason, I had little liking for it.

It was after I saw another wonderful efficacy of houttuynia cordata that I didn’t so dislike it. I remember that time my mother accidentally cut her hand while she was harvesting rice and the wound was bleeding. She picked several leaves from the houttuynia cordata, rubbed them, and pressed them onto the cut expertly. Soon the bleeding stopped and after dressing the wound, she continued with her work. Only when I saw this did I know that houttuynia cordata’s heart-shaped leaves could actually stanch bleeding and reduce swelling. And this has remained in my memory ever since.

One day, I got a QQ message from a boy I knew, “Are you online?” “Yes,” I replied. Soon he sent another message, “Yiyi, I … I think I’m falling in love with you.” At the sight of these words, I was so surprised and simply couldn’t believe my eyes. Goggling at them over and over, I knew I didn’t misread them. “How could it be possible? He and I are only acquaintances at school. How come he has feelings for me?” Out of curiosity, I asked, “What part of me attracts you?” “All of you,” answered he. “But I have plenty of faults.” “I don’t care. Everyone has shortcomings.” Pleased by his words, I couldn’t help thinking, “Maybe I can make friends with him first and see what he is like.” So, I started to interact with him.

During our interaction, I found that he was not only handsome, but also nice to me. He often patiently helped me with my homework; every day he showed great concern for me, always saying, “Take care of yourself and go to bed early,” or “Don’t study too hard; take a break when tired.” I felt warmth and happiness, as if I were the heroine in a soap opera, fussed over by the hero every day. Gradually I fell in love with him and often imagined how happy we would be in the future. Not long after, he asked me if I was willing to be his girlfriend. Hearing this, I was very happy, thinking, “Should I say yes? He’s so nice to me and cares about me so much; I’ll be happy with him.” But then I had a second thought, “I’m not old enough to date. If I start a relationship with him, it will certainly affect my studies, and I’ll be in no mood to attend gatherings or read God’s words. What should I do?” After a struggle, I refused him and decided to remain my friendship with him.

However, things were not as simple as I had imagined. He started to come into my life. He often actively chatted with me online. Sometimes, when I was doing my homework, he sent me a message and I would stop to chat with him, thus failing to focus on my studies. I couldn’t even settle down to read God’s words in the evening, because what he said to me always floated into my mind; gradually, instead of reading God’s words, I started chatting with him until late into the night. At that time, I often wondered, “Is he my Mr. Right? Should I start a relationship with him? If I’m with him, I’ll be very happy. What’s more, many students are in a relationship, so it’s normal that we date each other.” Thus, I agreed to be his girlfriend and indulged in puppy love. As a result, I not only was in no mood to study but also got further and further from God. Though I knew it was not good for me to experience puppy love, I couldn’t extricate myself from it and indulged in chatting with him every day; whenever I had a free moment, my mind would be occupied with him. In those days, I often came before God and prayed, “Oh God! Now I’m in no mood to study or read Your words, but indulge in his sweet words every day. I know I shouldn’t fall in love at this age, but I enjoy it, unable to extricate myself from it. What should I do? Oh God! Please help me.”

One day, he texted me, “Now we’re freshmen in high school. As the saying goes, ‘Lovers will embrace in freshmen year, will kiss in sophomore year, and in senior year …’ You know what I mean.” At the sight of his frivolous words, I felt a little disgusted and didn’t want to chat with him. Unexpectedly, he then sent another message, “If you don’t give me what I want, I’ll get it by force.” Upon seeing this, I lost my affection for him and felt very angry that he actually disrespected me. Never did I expect that behind his concern and care was his evil motive. It was then that I knew teenagers’ love is just an impulse without any sincerity and that most times their purposes are to fulfill their own selfish desires.

Later, one day, I talked with a sister about this matter. After hearing what I said, she fellowshiped with me, “Nowadays it’s a common phenomenon that teenagers are indulging in puppy love. This is caused by the evil trends of society. Satan uses various methods to deceive and corrupt us. We don’t have the truth or discernment, so we will follow the evil trends of Satan, thinking that it is normal to have a relationship at a young age. This is Satan fooling us.” Then, she sent two passages of God’s words to me: “For example, if you were watching a television show, what sort of things in it could change your view? Would what the performers said, the words themselves, be able to corrupt people? (No.) What sort of things would corrupt people? It would be the core thoughts and content of the show, which would represent the director’s views, and the information carried in these views could sway people’s hearts and minds.” “One after another, all these trends carry an evil influence that continually degenerates man, causing them to continually lose conscience, humanity and reason, and that lowers their morals and their quality of character more and more, to the extent that we can even say the majority of people now have no integrity, no humanity, neither do they have any conscience, much less any reason. … For man who is not of sound body and mind, who never knows what is truth, who cannot tell the difference between positive and negative things, these kinds of trends one after another make them all willingly accept these trends, the life view and values that come from Satan. They accept what Satan tells them on how to approach life and the way to live that Satan ‘bestows’ on them. They have not the strength, neither do they have the ability, much less the awareness to resist.”

Through God’s words and the sister’s fellowship, I came to know that it was because of the harmful evil trends of Satan that I indulged in puppy love. Satan instilled the viewpoint of “Love is above all” in me when I watched TV, which made me mistakenly think that love was sweet and beautiful. So I harbored beautiful illusions about love, and thought that it was normal for teenagers to date. When I saw the boy was handsome and considerate toward me, I couldn’t help falling in love with him. Consequently, I wasn’t in the mood to study, but was lost in his honeyed words; with my thoughts occupied by him, I couldn’t even quiet my heart when reading God’s words and thus became more and more distant from God. I’m just a teenager and haven’t reached the age of marriage, but poisoned by Satan’s evil trends, I indulged in puppy love. I lost the ambition a teenager ought to possess and lived a decadent life without a goal. And many students of my age are also deeply poisoned by the viewpoint that “Love is above all” and indulge in evil lusts. Some girls get pregnant and have abortions; some even commit suicide because their partner falls in love with others. Such tragedies are frequently occurring in school. Though parents and teachers rack their brains to educate us not to experience puppy love, their efforts are all to no avail. Now I knew this: Satan uses the evil trends to deceive and corrupt us teenagers, who are immature both physically and mentally and without correct goals in life, so that we can’t distinguish good from evil and establish wrong viewpoints of pursuit; living by these viewpoints, we become more and more degenerate and decadent. Thank God. It was His words that allowed me to have some discernment about Satan’s evil trends and see clearly that Satan was luring me onto the wrong path.

Afterward, I read another passage of God’s words: “Because the essence of God is holy, that means that only through God can you walk the bright, right road through life; only through God can you know the meaning of life, only through God can you live out a real life, possess the truth, know the truth, and only through God can you obtain life from the truth. Only God Himself can help you shun evil and deliver you from the harm and control of Satan. Besides God, no one and nothing can save you from the sea of suffering so that you suffer no longer: This is determined by the essence of God.”

Yes, only by understanding the truth could I overcome the seduction and corruption of Satan’s evil trends. In the past, because I didn’t understand the truth, I longed for the romantic love in the soap operas under the influence of the evil trends of society. Every day I couldn’t bend my mind to my studies but lived in an imaginary world of romantic love, losing the vitality and ambition that teenagers should possess. After reading God’s words, I had discernment about Satan’s evil trends, and knew what positive things are and what negative things are; I also understood that only if I pursued the truth and pursued to know God could I live a meaningful life. From now on, I should read God’s words more and pay attention to quieting my heart before God; meanwhile, I should put more efforts into my studies to learn useful knowledge.

Now, under the guidance of God’s words, the tranquil life I once had resumed. Though without sweet words or passionate love, I feel free and liberated. I regularly attend gatherings and perform my duty with my brothers and sisters, living an enriched life. I have recovered the vitality and vigor that a teenager should possess. All the glory be to the almighty and one true God. Amen!

Required Reading for Christians: Trials—Another Kind of Blessing From God

As Christians, none of us are strangers to trials. The Bible says, “And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, Jehovah is my God” (Zechariah 13:9). It also says in the Bible, “My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations” (James 1:2). From this, we can see that God wants to give refinement and trials to His chosen people and, through this, to perfect our faith and our love for God, to resolve our corrupt dispositions or the taints in our belief, to remedy our wrong views and to enable us to be purified. We can therefore encounter all kinds of environments that are at odds with our own notions. Examples of these environments may include sometimes encountering the refinement of illness, and sometimes our families may encounter misfortune, such as the suffering of a relative or our homes being burgled; sometimes we may encounter difficulties in our jobs or things in our lives that are not as we would wish; another example is what we decide to do when the interests of our flesh clash with the interests of the church. All these examples are, without a doubt, trials to us. So what approach should we take to the trials God sets for us? And when trials befall us, what is God’s will?

Lessons From the Lord Jesus’ Appearance to Thomas the Apostle

The Bible records, “And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the middle, and said, Peace be to you. Then said he to Thomas, Reach here your finger, and behold my hands; and reach here your hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said to him, My LORD and my God. Jesus said to him, Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:26–29).

These passages talk about the Lord Jesus’ appearing to His disciples after He was resurrected. But what made me confused was why the Lord Jesus only allowed Thomas to touch His hands with nail marks and even the wound in His side among His many disciples. I believed there must be a mystery here for God does not get involved with matters that do not have meaning. Thereupon, I began to consult the Bible, and saw that when Thomas heard the news that the Lord Jesus had risen from the dead, he did not believe it at all, and said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25). When Thomas said this, the Lord was not near. However, the Lord is omnipotent and scrutinizes all, and He knew what Thomas said, so He fulfilled his requirements and eliminated his doubts toward Him. Later, I inadvertently read a passage on a gospel website, which gave me a deeper understanding about the Lord’s appearing to Thomas and allowing him to touch His hands and rib.

Here I have another question: What is the difference between the way of repentance and the way of eternal life?

Answer: There is but one God, and His work of saving mankind cannot be done in one or two stages, because there are three stages of work in God’s management plan. The truth expressed by God in each stage is different, and gradually deepens so that it reaches perfection in the end. God does different work across the ages based on the needs of man at the time, so the way God gives to man in every each age is in fact different. What’s the difference between the way of repentance and the way of eternal life, which is a crucial question. It is a truth every true believer in God must understand, because it’s related to how man knows the truth and gains eternal life.

Q&A About God’s Work of Judgment in the Last Days-Question 4

Question 4: You said that the most prophesied thing in the Bible is God’s judgment work in the last days. There are at least 200 places in the Bible mentioning that God will come to carry out His judgment. This is completely true. But what you witnessed is God coming into the flesh to do His judgment work in the last days. This is different to what we accept. We believe the Lord in the last days will appear to mankind and work in the form of Jesus’ spiritual body following the resurrection. This is also the view of the majority in religious circles.

Answer: It is good to see that you have affirmed that the Lord’s return is to judge and cleanse people. It’s just that you’re still unclear on how did the Lord return and the method of His arrival. The majority of believers think that the Lord’s reappearance before mankind will be through the spiritual body of Jesus that rose to heaven after the resurrection, and that the Lord would not possibly be incarnated into the Son of man again. Then in what method does the returned Lord appear before mankind to carry out His judgment? As a spiritual body or God in the flesh? This has become a question of utmost concern to believers of God. Our testimony of God coming into the flesh in the last days to do His judgment work is something that has a clear prophecy in the Bible. The Lord Jesus said, “For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son” (John 5:22). “And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man” (John 5:27). The Lord Jesus directly prophesied that God will become flesh as the Son of man to personally carry out His judgment in the last days. All references to “Son” or “Son of man” are certainly references to Christ in the flesh. For instance, Jesus in the flesh was the Son of man: born to a human being, with a normal humanity and adopting an ordinary and normal person’s image to live among people. That’s why He’s called the Son of man, Christ. If He were a Spirit, He cannot be called the “Son of man.” Just as Jehovah God is a Spirit, so He cannot be called the “Son of man.” The spiritual body of the Lord Jesus after the resurrection is not the body of God incarnate, so He cannot be called the Son of man either. Anyone that has man’s image but is a spiritual body cannot be called the Son of man. Just as the Lord Jesus has prophesied, “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24-25). This is even more proof that the Lord’s return is through incarnation in the flesh as the Son of man. If it were through the spiritual body of the resurrected Lord, then He wouldn’t have to endure much suffering, and He certainly wouldn’t be rejected of this generation. A spiritual body is of course supernatural. Not only will He be able to perform miracles, anything He says will also immediately come true. If it’s like this, then mankind will surely follow Him. Believers, non-believers, even the devil Satan would follow. If that were the case, then how could the Lord’s return be rejected of this generation? Also, if it were a spiritual body that came to rapture the saints, then all believers would be even more unlikely to reject God. Is that not the truth? So in accordance with the Lord Jesus’ prophecy, we can be absolutely certain that the Lord Jesus must return in the flesh as the Son of Man to utter His voice and do the judgment work of the last days. It cannot possibly be the spiritual body of the resurrected Jesus—this is certainly undeniable.

In the last days God is incarnated as the Son of Man to do His judgment work, just like when the Lord Jesus came to earth to spread the gospel of the kingdom of heaven. Mankind saw the Lord Jesus as an ordinary Son of man, but His words and work had authority, power, and made people convinced. We can tell from the Lord Jesus’ words and work that everything expressed by the Lord Jesus is the truth, allowing everyone to be utterly convinced. Naturally, people would believe that the Lord Jesus was certainly sent by God, and that He was God Himself who did God’s work. Similarly, when the incarnate Almighty God of the last days appears to do His work, many people hear God’s voice, and can all see the truth manifested like light in the realm of man. It allows everyone to see the incarnate Son of man can express the truth and judge and cleanse corrupt mankind. And it allows people to see from the truth expressed by the incarnate Son of man God’s righteous disposition, so people can revere and obey God in their hearts, and be completely saved and gained by God. Almighty God speaks words and does His work of judgment beginning at the house of God, cleansing and saving all those who have come before God’s throne, and making a group of overcomers before the disaster. Now, the words of Almighty God and the overcoming testimonies of God’s chosen people about experiencing His judgment, cleansing and perfection have already been made public on the Internet, facing the entire world and openly testifying that Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus, that Almighty God is the appearance of the one true God who judges and saves mankind. Just as Almighty God says, “I will watch over the whole earth, and, appearing in the East of the world with righteousness, majesty, wrath, and chastisement, I will reveal Myself to the myriad hosts of humanity!” (“The Twenty Sixth Utterance” of God’s Utterances to the Entire Universe in The Word Appears in the Flesh).
